Based in Yangon, Pedro Jose's expertise includes assisting local and foreign clients to invest in projects across various sectors, including real estate, manufacturing, distribution, and energy (including oil and gas). He has advised clients on the structuring and implementation of such investment projects, which have included the drafting, reviewing and negotiating transaction documents, and the preparation of and application for necessary approvals from the Myanmar Investment Commission under the Myanmar Foreign Investment Law, and the Myanmar Directorate of Investment and Company Administration.

He has also advised on commercial and financing structures in Myanmar, including public-private partnerships, limited recourse financing and security transactions. In this regard, he is well-versed with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements under the Myanmar Foreign Exchange Management Law and he has regularly liaised with the Central Bank of Myanmar and the Ministry of Finance in the conduct of advisory and regulatory engagements.

PJ also has extensive corporate and capital markets experience, and has been involved in mergers and acquisitions, asset purchases, real estate transactions, project financing, and debt and equity issuances, particularly in the Philippines.

He leads the firm’s telecommunications practice in Myanmar. He led the firm in advising KDDI Corporation and Sumitomo Corporation in its US$2 billion business arrangement with Myanma Posts and Telecommunications, and has also advised various local and international entities in its telecommunications activities in Myanmar, including the provision of passive infrastructure, fiber optic construction and leasing and tower sharing arrangements.

PJ was recognized as a Distinguished Practitioner of Corporate M&A in Asialaw.
