Nicholas started his practice in 1997 as a litigator representing clients in court proceedings involving breaches of contractual, statutory and common law obligations. This included corporate and shareholder disputes; breaches of commercial contracts; infringements of intellectual property rights; and claims of negligence.
Currently a member of the Corporate and Commercial Department at Kelvin Chia Partnership, Nicholas advises individuals and corporations on contractual, regulatory and legal risk management issues arising, in particular, in the context of cross border transactions; various types of regulated businesses; mergers and acquisitions; trade sales; and various types of business ventures. He is skilled in preparing / advising on shareholder, partnership, and joint venture agreements; company constitutions; share sale / purchase and subscription agreements; financing documents; leases; intellectual property licensing and assignment agreements; and agreements for the sale or supply of goods and services (including SaaS Agreements).
As part of his corporate and commercial practice, Nicholas offers specialized advice on employment law. This includes ensuring compliance with employment regulations, drafting different types of employment contracts, developing company rules and policies, structuring employee share schemes, managing transfers and secondments, handling terminations, and providing strategies for dispute resolution.
Nicholas core practice also includes assisting / advising clients on wills, trusts, and estate planning, providing tailored solutions that reflect each client's unique circumstances and long-term goals.
Drawing on his broad experience in both contentious and non-contentious matters, and his involvement on sitting on company boards and committees, Nicholas delivers practical, tailored solutions to commercial challenges. His expertise enables clients to effectively address and navigate potentially litigious situations in corporate / commercial transactions.
