Based in Singapore, Marlon is actively involved and assists in a variety of corporate and commercial transactions in Southeast Asia, including Myanmar, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Cambodia. His diverse practice portfolio spans mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, mining, power, oil and gas, investment, corporate restructurings, and the establishment of offshore private equity funds.

Marlon has developed significant knowledge and work experience in the firm’s steadily growing regional practice, particularly in the Indochina region. As an active member of the firm’s Myanmar practice group, he collaborates with our Yangon-based lawyers on advisory work on a variety of subjects/issues, including foreign investments in Myanmar, and the regulatory framework on the mining, energy and agricultural/plantation sectors.

He helps oversee the firm’s Indonesia practice group, providing advisory and transactional services to clients about foreign investments in Indonesia and cross-border/multi-jurisdictional matters involving Indonesia laws. Being Philippine law-qualified, he is also able to advise and assist clients on a variety of Philippine law-related issues and transactions.

Marlon also specialises in offshore private equity funds, advising fund companies and managers on the preparation of offering documentation and advising them on regulatory concerns affecting the offering and management of the funds in certain jurisdictions overseas.

He was admitted as an Attorney and Counselor-at-Law in the Philippines in 1999, where he engaged in litigation and corporate practice. In 2003-2005, he was part of the delegation representing the Philippines in treaty negotiations at the United Nations Offices in Vienna, Austria, for the United Nations Convention Against Corruption as well as related agreements involving the United Nations Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime.
