Wai Yip is a member of the firm’s Corporate and Commercial Department and is primarily involved in commercial and cross-border transactions, especially in relation to mergers and acquisitions, joint venture, due diligence investigations, private equity funds and corporate restructurings.
He has assisted many clients in their investments in Southeast Asia across a multitude of sectors, such as real estate, telecommunication, tourism, energy, manufacturing and agriculture. In particular, he is well-versed with statutory requirements and familiar with procedural requirements for permits and licenses, in emerging markets, such as Myanmar. His time spent as an inhouse counsel to a listed company group has also armed him with the ability to resolve legal issues in a practical way, having regard to underlying commercial objectives.
Wai Yip also has extensive experience advising on structuring complex transactions, and reviewing or drafting complex documents supporting such transactions.
